Description

The Mirador del Urubú is a prominent point of attraction located in the Sierras de Rocha, in Uruguay. It is the first viewpoint in the area that offers free access, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy impressive panoramic views.

The viewpoint project was carried out by the organization AMBÁ and BMR Productora Cultural, with the support of CASMU. It was selected by the Ministry of Education and Culture and included in the Registry of Cultural Artistic Development Projects. Its main objective is to provide a new concept of interpretation of nature.

The Mirador del Urubú is located in the Cerro Negro Reserve, about 20 kilometers from the city of Rocha. It offers an accessible space for all types of public, with parking and a low difficulty path. In addition to the impressive views of the mountains, visitors will be able to enjoy a picnic area.

A distinctive feature of the gazebo is its focus on environmental education. It has bilingual signage that highlights the characteristics of the native fauna and flora of the mountain area. This gives visitors the opportunity to learn about the natural environment while enjoying the experience.

The Mirador del Urubú is part of the "Natural Route of the Sierras de Rocha" project, declared of departmental interest by the Municipality of Rocha. This project seeks to promote mountain activities and landscapes, in which the viewpoint stands out as a mandatory stop.
